We are a group of local residents who have been meeting since summer 07 in order to think about how to get everyone in the community working together on ways to reduce the amount of carbon we produce. This is important because too much carbon in the atmosphere causes climate change. We also need to find ways to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels such as oil and coal, because supplies of these will be getting lower each year from now on.

Demand for fossil fuels will continue to rise, however, and this means that they will become extremely expensive and this will have a serious effect on basic necessities such as our food supplies and warmth in our homes in the winter. By trying to reduce our carbon output we can also reduce our dependence on these fuels.
